Beat the Australian Government Internet filter

In one easy step :)

As mentioned previously there are many, many simple ways to get around this filter.

People who regularly download illegal material are clearly already well aware of these methods based on the ridiculously low number of arrests that seem to be made. The information here is provided so you can still visit the 10% of the Internet that this filter will incorrectly block.

While the following method is not technically the simplest, it is almost a one-click system while being as close to private as could be reasonably expected on the internet. It uses a system called Onion Routing, or specifically "Tor" (The Onion Router), which is a kind of underground network of computers designed specifically to stop your information being monitored and tracked. While far from being "secure", it is about as anonymous as you can be on the internet.

Onion routing, and Tor, works by sending your information hopping around the world before being sent to someone else's ISP, rather than just being directly sent to your own. Tor employs a layered encryption system, which results in perfect forward secrecy transmitting your data. It does not, however, mean your data is secure. It can still be intercepted, however your location and the source of the information will remain anonymous.
